1
' 30 September 2003
S AGE-NC Project No 99-0592
opened and water was allowed to run until the pump turned on The samples were transferred into
' laboratory-supplied 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as
a sample preservative The sample containers were then labeled with well designation, date, time of
sampling and the sampler's initials The samples were transported in a chilled container under chain-
of-custody to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI), a California Department of Health Services
(DHS)-certified laboratory, for analysis The samples were analyzed for
' Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015 modified,
' Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) in accordance with EPA Method
8021B, and
• Fuel additives di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE), methyl tertiary-
butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME),tertiary-butanol(TBA),methanol,
ethanol, and 1,2-d[bromoethane (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance
' with EPA Method 8260B
r
' . 3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on
' 28 March 2003 Laboratory analysis of ground water samples was used to quantify the impact to
ground water
'
3 1 GROUND WATER ATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
vp a3 ,
' Depth to ground water was measured between 60 74 feet and 61 39 feet below the top of the casings,
ground water levations at the site ranged from 33 60 feet below mean sea level (MSL) in well
MW-1 to 34 4 -feet below MSL In well MW-4 The ground water flow was directed toward the
' northeast with a hydraulic gradient calculated to be 0 0007 foot/foot Ground water elevation data
from well MW-1 was not used to determine the gradient, this well is screened at a different interval
' than wells MW-2 through MW-4 Depth to water and ground water elevation are summarized in
Table 1 Figure 3 illustrates the contoured ground water elevations
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' TPH-g,MTBE, TAME and 1,2-DCA were detected in monitoring well MW-1 at concentrations of
300 micrograms per liter (µg/1),180 µg/1, 6 4 µg/l, and 22 µg/1, respectively No other analytes of
concern were detected above laboratory reporting limits in the sample collected from MW-1
1 Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
I
