SEP 15 2015
"ENVIRONMENTAL
MP Training Guide
'1-rU^.C7rD1r%AC fir.
Conducting Annual HMMP Employee Training
A significant requirement of all HMMP's is to conduct and have documented proof of
annual employee training. Training requirements vary by county. Search your county
hazardous materials information web page for specific training documentation forms, or
request assistance from Ryder Fuel Services or your Manager of Field Environmental
Services on this topic. This is done by going to a web search engine and then typing in
the name of the county your location is in, then HMMP Requirements.
The location shop manager is responsible for conducting and documenting the annual
training in accordance with county requirements.
There are five specific areas that must be reviewed during the HMMP training. These include:
1. Employee familiarity of the plan
2. Procedures for safe handling of hazardous materials
3. Procedures for communicating with emergency response agencies
4. How to implement a locations Emergency Response Plan
5. Conducting annual hazardous waste management training
Guidelines for performing training for each of these sections is provided below.
1. Employee Familiarity with all plans and procedures in your locations HMMP.
The locations shop manager must provide the following training so employees are familiar with all
plans and procedures of a locations HMMP:
Advise all employees where the HMMP is kept
Provided an overview of each section of the plan.
(If any information is found to be out of date on the forms by a shop employee,
the location service manager needs to be informed of the needed change. The
shop manager is also responsible for reviewing the plan for accuracy quarterly).
Show the employee the HMMP and Ryder Emergency Spill Telephone guide to know
who to contact in the event of a HMMP emergency.
