SITE-SPECIFIC SAFETY REQUIREMENTS <br />Safety requirements specific to the 3555 W Hammer Lane site include the following: <br />Potential Hazard Protective Measure <br />Residual hydrocarbon vapors Level D protective clothing will be worn. <br />of gasoline, waste oil, and Respiratory protective devices with organic vapor <br />possibly diesel fuel in soil. cartridges will be kept readily available. <br />Flammability of vapors All pumps, hoses, nossles, couplings, etc. will be <br />made of nonsparking materials. An organic <br />vapor/explosive <br />meter will be used to monitor the immediate work <br />area for the level of organic vapors present. <br />Loud equipment noises Proper hearing protection is required. <br />Wet and slippery surfaces No -slip soled boots for oil and grease are required. <br />All personnel will wear hard hats and stay clear of <br />movable equipment parts. <br />Open excavations and cave-ins Personnel will be required to stay at least 2 feet from <br />edges of open excavations. No person shall enter an <br />excavation over 4 feet deep without following proper <br />Occupational Safety and Health Administration <br />(OSHA) requirements. According to Cal -OSHA, <br />shoring is not necessary if workers in the excavation <br />are operating large equipment and/or are enclosed in <br />the cab of heavy equipment, both of which are <br />expected to be the case during this project. In <br />addition, while workers are present, the excavation <br />will always be provided with a sloped ramp for <br />entering and exiting. <br />Working with basic Common sense will be practiced. Special clothing <br />construction tools required during operation of specific instruments will <br />be worn. <br />
