SAMPLE CUSTODY PROCEDURES <br />We plan to observe EPA chain -of -custody procedures and will: <br />* Clean brass sample tubes with soap and water before <br />use, <br />* Transport the tubes in sealed chests to prevent <br />inadvertent contamination or tampering before use, <br />* Use laboratory supplied glass containers for water <br />samples, <br />* Identify the samples with gummed labels containing <br />sample number, name of collector, date and time of <br />collection and place of collection, <br />* Seal the samples with gummed seals containing sample <br />number, collector's name and date and time of sampling, <br />* Maintain a field log book which records sample identi- <br />fication, location on sampling point, volume of sample, <br />description of sampling point and sampling methodology, <br />sample distribution and field measurements, date and <br />time of collection and signatures of data collector and, <br />* Prepare and use a chain -of -custody record which will <br />contain sample number, signature of collector, date and <br />time of collection, place and address of collection, <br />signature of persons involved in the chain of possession <br />and inclusive dates of possession. <br />I <br />
