Ms. Tingo, one of two science teachers at the school, stated that she disposes of common <br /> household items used in the classroom labs, like vinegar and Windex, by diluting them with water and <br /> pouring them down the sink. Metal fines generated from metal grinding in the auto shop are being <br /> disposed of as non-RCRA hazardous waste; no determination has been made for possible RCRA <br /> hazardous properties. Any person who generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a hazardous <br /> waste. Immediately stop improper disposal of these wastes, make a hazardous waste determination for <br /> the science lab wastes and the metal fines, and manage them according the Title 22 hazardous waste <br /> regulations. Metal particles 100 microns or smaller must be handled as hazardous waste if the metal is <br /> determined to be a hazardous waste. Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how <br /> these wastes were managed by May 30, 2014. <br /> 122 & 125. Copies of all hazardous waste disposal records for used oil, used antifreeze, and parts <br /> washer waste for the past three years were not found on site. A single disposal record for used oil was <br /> located dated April 10, 2014. Two disposal records for parts washer waste were located, one dated 2013 <br /> and one dated 2012. According to Mr. Yonan, the auto shop teacher, he receives the disposal records, <br /> but was unable to locate them at the time of inspection. Mr. Yonan stated that until recently the parts <br /> washer waste was picked up by Safety-Kleen three or more times per year. Hazardous waste generators <br /> shall retain copies of all manifests signed off by the disposal facility and all receipts used in a <br /> ALL END STAFF TIME ASSOCIATED WITH FAILING TO COMPLY BY THE ABOVE NOTED DATES WILL BE BILLED AT THE CURRENT HOURLY RATE. <br /> THIS FACILITY IS SUBJECT TO REINSPECTION AT ANY TIME AT EHD'S CURRENT HOURLY RATE <br /> Inspector: Received Title: <br /> EHD 22-02 ev 04/1 / 2 Page 4 HW INSPECTION REPORT <br />
