CLEANUP <br />Once the spill has been contained cleanup operations shall be initiated. <br />Depending upon the substance spilled and its hazardous properties, special <br />precautions may need to be taken during the cleanup process such as the use of <br />non -sparking tools, anti -static absorbent, neutralizers, protective equipment and <br />clothing. Consult the MSDS and other sources. Location of MSDS books in each <br />Bldg Area can be found in the Hazmat Spill Response Plan. <br />#1 Outside the Boiler Room <br />#2 In the truck shop <br />DECONTAMINATION <br />After the spill cleanup has been completed, all protective equipment, tools and <br />contaminated surfaces must be disposed of or decontaminated immediately. <br />Contaminated surfaces should be rinsed with a neutralizing solution until the <br />hazardous residue has been elated. Contaminated equipment and tools <br />ff ZAZi&kVZ-t <br />and stored for the next use. All washing solutions, unless neutralized, must be <br />disposed of as hazardous waste. <br />Dis <br />All contaminated items such as used absorbent, rags, clothing, tools, etc. must <br />be packed in an appropriate container and labeled in accordance with federal, <br />state and or local regulations. The container used for disposal of the <br />contaminated waste must be compatible with the waste material and capable of <br />containing the waste during storage and transportation. NO hazardous waste <br />shall be disposed of without first consulting management. <br />The primary contact for disposal issues is the Safety Leader. <br />18 <br />
