1. If an earthquatoccurs, all operations or equipment in An will be stopped at once
(if possible).
2. If you are indoors, move under a desk, table, or doorway. Stay away from windows
or other obvious hazards. If you are outside, move into the open away from tanks,
buildings, power lines, and any overhead structures.
3. The EC will decide whether evacuation is necessary from the facility. He/she will
also be in contact with the Supervisors throughout the facility via mobile phones.
The Supervisors and other personnel will inform him/her of the situation and damage
in their areas.
3. If the evacuation is necessary, the published and practiced procedures will be
followed.
a. All employees will proceed to the Evacuation Assembly Areas for a head
count. Employees are to remain in the Assembly Areas so that no one will
have to unnecessarily re-enter the building and risk his or her personal safety
to look for an unaccounted person.
b. The assigned roll call personnel listed in Table 1 will take a head count and
report the results to his or her Supervisor. The Supervisor will inform the
Emergency Coordinator of any missing persons.
4. After the earthquake, the Emergency Coordinator will analyze the building to
determine if it is safe to continue the shift. However, should the Fire Department be
present, they will be in charge and will make the decision.
5. If the earthquake has damaged the building and people are missing after the head
count (taken by the personnel listed in Table 1), or there are injured persons, the
following will apply:
a. Injured persons will be taken and kept at the Evacuation Assembly Areas if
professional medical assistance is unavailable.
b. The first aid kit will be taken to the Assembly Areas.
C. All trained first aid people will report to Assembly Areas to assist the injured.
d. If safe, a search party of volunteers will be led by the Emergency Coordinator
or a designated employee to look for additional persons, either trapped or
injured.
6. No employees will remain behind to operate critical plant operations before they
evacuate.
10
