RUGRO WEST, INC.
- -- --- -- " "-- 1050 Melody Lane,suite 160
Roseville,California95678
Tel: (916)782-2110
January 15, 1997 FAX: (916)78s-7830
Proposal No. 9647-0770
Pamela Lopez
clo Bob Holiday
P.O. Box 393
Thornton, California 95686
Subject : Proposal for Additional Ground Water Assessment
Lopez Property
26500 Nowell Road, Thornton, California
Dear Mr. Holiday.
Fugro is pleased to submit this proposal for additional ground water assessment to be
conducted at 26500 Nowed Road, Thornton, California (Figure 1). The proposal includes a purpose
and objective, scope of work, and attached cost estimate for the proposed assessment to be conducted
at the subject property. --
Purpose and Objective
This proposal is being submitted in response to San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division (PHS/EBD), letter dated January 3, 1997, In their letter PHS/EHD is
requesting additional information to-assess the mobility of contaminants, in order to demonstrate that
this is a "Low Risk Ground WateCO. e". The PHSIEHD is concerned that the vertical migration of
contaminants may not be detected in the shallow ground water wells on site.
Fugro proposes to install one deep ,ground water well to further delineate the vertical extent of
contaminant migration. One soil sample will be geotechnicaily analyzed to define aquifer parameters.
To identify potentially sensitive receptors/the ground water well (not in use) located on site will be
sampled, and a diinldng water well survey will be conducted within a 2000 foot radius of the subject
property. The proposed scope of services required to complete the project objective are described
below:
Background
The subject site is a private residence purchased by Nis. Lopez in 1979 with an existing 500-
gallon-capacity gasoline UST on the property. According to the previous owners, the UST had not
been used for 10 to 15 years. On October 9, 1989, the UST was removed. One soil sample was
collected from the base of the excavation and analyzed for the presence of total petroleum
A member of the Fugro group of companies with offices throughout the world
96470770-PHZ
