1 <br /> August 5, 2005 ICES 2832 <br /> ' PRELIMINARY SITE INVESTIGATION <br /> UNIVERSAL FOREST PRODUCTS <br /> 1 26200 NOWELL ROAD <br /> THORNTON, CALIFORNIA <br /> 1 0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This report presents the findings of the Preliminary Site <br /> Investigation that was conducted by Innovative and Creative <br /> Environmental Solutions (ICES) at the Universal Forest Products <br /> facility located at 26200 Nowell Road in Thornton, California <br /> ( "the Sate" ; Figure 1 ) . <br /> ' The purpose of the investigation was to define the extent of the <br /> petroleum-affected soil and groundwater in the vicinity of the <br /> former 10, 000-gallon underground storage tank (UST) within the <br /> Site. <br /> 2 0 SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> ' The Site as located just north of the Peltier Road exit off the <br /> eastern side of Interstate Five The Universal Forest Products <br /> finished lumber processing plant currently occupies the Site <br /> ' 3 0 BACKGROUND <br /> Wright Environmental Services, Inc. of Tracy, California removed <br /> ' one 10, 000-gallon UST on June 13, 2004 During the removal of the <br /> UST, visually contaminated soil was observed within the sadewalls <br /> of the excavation Soil overlying and surrounding the UST was <br /> ' temporarily stockpiled adjacent to the UST excavation. <br /> A total of four soil samples were collected from the UST <br /> 1 <br />
