1 i •
1
I
' excavation. One sample was collected from the native soil at a
depth of approximately 1 to 2 feet below each end of the UST or the
' equivalent of approximately 11 feet below the existing ground
surface; and two soil samples were collected from the central
portion of the UST excavation at a depth of approximately 11 feet
' bgs . One grab groundwater sample was also collected from the
groundwater that was encountered at the bottom of the UST
excavation Additionally, two 3011 samples were collected beneath
the tank piping at a depth of approximately 3 feet bgs and two
composite samples were collected from the stockpiled material .
' Soil samples collected beneath the UST and stockpiled material
-indicated low to non-detectable concentrations of total petroleum
hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline (TPHg) , benzene, toluene,
' ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) , oxygenates, and lead, and non-
detectable to elevated concentrations of TPH as diesel (TPHd) . The
grab groundwater sample collected from the UST excavation contained
1 non-detectable concentrations of TPHg, BTEX, oxygenates, and lead,
and an elevated concentration of TPHd The soil samples collected
beneath the tank piping contained non-detectable concentrations of
TPHg, TPHd, BTEX, oxygenates, and lead. The approximately 687 tons
of stockpiled petroleum-affected material containing the elevated
concentrations of TPHd were disposed at Forward Landfill (Forward)
of Manteca, California.
4 . 0 PRELIMINARY SITE INVESTIGATION
' Prior to drilling activities, the boring locations were marked and
cleared of underground utilities Underground Services Alert and
1 Cruz Brothers of Milpitas were contacted to assist in utility
clearance activities The drilling activities were conducted at
the Site by Woodward Drilling Company, Inc of Rio Vista,
1 California on March 8 , 2005 and observed and documented by ICES .
1 4 1 Sox1 and Groundwater Sampling
Soil samples were collected from three borings (SB-1, SB-3, and
SB-4 ) Boring SB-1 was located within the former UST pit, boring
SB-3 was located approximately 15 west of boring SB-1, and boring
SB-4 was located approximately 15 east of boring SB-1,
' respectively. The approximate boring locations are shown in Figure
2
2
1
