26 February 2001
AGE-NC Project No 95-0137
' ranging from 110 µg/l in samples MW-4 and VW-1B to 51,000 µg11 in MW-3
Benzene was reported in wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, VW-1 B and VW-2A t concentrations ranging
' from 0 88 µg11 in MW-3 to 1,000 µg11 in MW-2 Toluene, ethylbenzene and/or xylenes were also
reported in five wells at concenti ations ranging from 0 55 µg11 of toluene in MW-3 to 840 µg/l of
ethylbenzene in V W-1 A
' MTBE was not detected above reporting limits in any of the samples utilizing EPA method 8020
Utilizing EPA method 8260, MTBE was reported in ground water samples MW-2 and MW-3 at
' concentrations of 2 9 gg/l and 1 9 µg11, respectively
4
Samples MW-1 through MW-4,VW-2A and VW-213 contained TBA at concentrations ranging from
9 9 µg/l in VW-2A to 360 µg11 m VW-2B DIPE was reported in the ground water sample collected
fi om well MW-3 by EPA method 8260 at a concentration of 1 9 µg/l ETBE and TAME were not
reported in any of the samples
The analytical results are summarized in Tables 2 and 3 A copy of the laboratory report (MAI Lab
ID Numbers 52460 thiough 52467), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) and chain-of-
custody form are Included in Appendix B
' 4.0. CONCLUSIONS
' Based on the data collected during this monitoting period, AGE concludes
• The greatest concentrations of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons in the shallow ground water
' is centered ai ound the former UST excavation, however, high concentrations of TPH as
diesel fuel are also present in MW-3, located approximately 85 feet east of the former UST
excavation In general, the concentrations of hydrocarbons has Increased since the last
' sampling event in January 2000
• Analytical results of ground water samples collected from the air sparging wells (VW-1B,
VW-213), screened between 30 and 35 feet bsg, Indicate that the hydrocarbon-impacted
' ground water extends at least 15 feet into the saturated zone
• MTBE, reported at very low concentrations in MW-3 and VW-IA Is not widespread nor a
' significant concern at this time TBA has been detected at several locations on the site No
other fuel oxygenates were detected during this sampling event
Advanced Geo Environmental,lice
1
