n1
20 January 2000
• AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
to surface grade A proposed IAS infection well diagram is included as Figures 6
4 3 2 In-situ Air Sparging Piping System
An electric air compressor will operate independently from the SVE unit This will allow for control
of air flow to each IAS well and "surging" of the IAS system, if necessary, to prevent mounding
and/or migration of the dissolved hydrocarbons A separate electrical source and meter will be
necessary for the IAS system
A network of one-inch diameter, schedule 40 PVC piping will be installed in 6-inch wide by 12-inch
deep trenches at the site The PVC piping will be routed from each IAS well head to an air
compressor A PVC ball valve will be installed at each IAS well head so that air flow can be
depressed independently A plan of the proposed air spargmg piping system is depicted in Figure 5
The location of the air compressor is proposed near the southwest corner at the site (Figure 3) The
air compressor will be secured by a chain-linked, gated enclosure with measurements 15 feet wide
by 20 feet long and six feet in height
4 3 3 In-situ Air Sparging Monitoring Activities
Quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling is proposed throughout the remediation period
However, we recommend monthly measurements of ground water depth and dissolved oxygen from
ground water monitoring wells at the site to determine if ground water mounding is occurring as a
result of the IAS system operation
44 PERMITTING
An application for a site specific permit will be submitted to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution
Control District (SJVAPCD) prior to initiation of the remediation project In addition, proper
building permits will be obtained from the City of Ripon Building Department for necessary
construction work, including natural gas and electrical source installations
All necessary welliboring permits will be submitted to the PHS-EHD prior to any drilling activities
A minimum of 48 hours notice will be given to the PHS-EHD prior to performing any field work
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
