20 January 2000 <br /> • AGE-NC Project No 95-0173 <br /> Page 14 of 14 <br /> 45 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION/IN-SITU AIR SPARGING SYSTEM MAINTENANCE <br /> The SVE/IAS system will be maintained on a weekly basis, according to manufacturers <br /> recommendations After stabilization, routine maintenance would represent the only periods of <br /> "down time"for the unit One to two times each month(assuming 24-hour operation), the unit will <br /> be shut down for routine maintenance procedures such as lubrication, oil changing, and system <br /> adjustments <br /> 46 PROGRESS/CONFIRMATION SOIL SAMPLING <br /> L <br /> After approximately six months of operation or efficiency of the unit has declined, soil samples will <br /> be collected from the "core"petroleum hydrocarbon Impacted area at the'site Analytical results of <br /> the soil samples will serve to approximate remaining petroleum hydrocarbon levels and determine <br /> if continuing remedial operation Is necessary <br /> Samples will be collected utilizing a direct push technology AGE proposes to advance soil probe <br /> . borings In the "core" petroleum hydrocarbon Impacted area at the site to depths of approximately <br /> 50 feet bsg Probe boring will be advanced using a Geoprobe 5400 soil probing unit <br /> Discrete soil samples will be collected at five-foot Intervals beginning at a depth of 10 feet bsg <br /> utilizing a Geoprobe soil sampling assembly loaded with pre-cleaned 1 125-inch by 6-Inch brass <br /> sleeves Soil samples will be preserved by covering both ends of the second brass sleeve with Teflon <br /> sheets,plastic end caps and sealed with tape Each sample sleeve will be labeled with the following <br /> information soil probe boring location, depth, time, date and sampler's Initials Soil samples will <br /> be transported In a cooler under ice to a DHS-certified laboratory for analysis of TPH-g, TPH-d, <br /> BTE&X,MTBE,DIPE,TAME,ETBE and TBA in accordance with EPA methods 8015m, 8020 and <br /> 8260 <br /> Advanced GeoEnWronmental,Inc <br />
