20 July 1998 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0137 <br /> Page 2 of 8 <br /> Samples were collected from boring B18 continuously using a split tube, 3-Inch diameter core <br /> sampler The sampler was advance with the progression of the boring and soil sample were collected, ' <br /> In clean,2 X 6-Inch brass sleeves Samples were collected from boring B 19 through B22 at five-foot <br /> intervals using a split tube sampler loaded with three clean,2 X 6-Inch brass sleeves A 140-pound <br /> hammer was used to advance the sampler 18 Inches, the number of blows required to advance the <br /> sampler in 6-Inch Increments was recorded on the boring logs All sampling equipment was washed <br /> in an Alconox solution and rinsed twice with water prior to each sampling run <br /> ' Both ends of the soil sleeve of each sample collected for laboratory analysis were covered with <br /> Teflon sheets, capped and sealed with tape The samples were stored in a chilled container and <br /> transported under chain-of-custody to MAI <br /> Selected samples were analyzed In accordance with the following EPA methods <br /> • EPA Method 5030/8015m for TPH-g, <br /> EPA Method 8020 BTE&X <br /> • • EPA Method 8260 and method 8260m for MTBE and other oxygenated fuel additives <br /> tertiary butyl alcohol(TBA),di-Isopropyl ether(DIPE),ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE)and <br /> tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME) <br /> During drilling, auger returns were monitored for the presence of organic vapor using an organic <br /> vapor analyzer (OVA) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo Environmental <br /> 580A, 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene) Auger returns were placed on plastic and stored on-site <br /> pending laboratory analysis and disposal at a licenced facility <br /> 1 <br /> 212 LOGGING <br /> Duplicate soil samples were extruded from the second brass sleeve or sampler body and were <br /> P P � P Y <br /> screened for the presence of organic vapor,using the OVA The OVA readings were recorded on the <br /> ' boring logs The soil was then described In accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System <br /> (see Boring Logs, Appendix A) <br /> 2 13 WELL COMPLETION <br /> ' Borings B18 and B19 were dual-completed as SVE/IAS wells VW-2 and VW-1, respectively <br /> .
