' 25 September 1995
i AGE-NC Project No 95-0137
a depth of approximately 25 feet Boring logs are included in Appendix B
Organic vapors were detected in MW-4 at depths of 20 to 35 feet at concentrations up to 170 ppm
Samples from boring 10 also indicated the presence of organic vapor at concentrations up to 73 ppm
44 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
A total of 11 soil samples were relinquished to the laboratory for analysis BTE&X was not detected
in any of the soil samples analyzed Typically, TPH-g was detected at concentrations up to 23 ppm
in samples collected from depths of 15 and/or 20 feet in B 11, B 12 and B 13 Generally, the same
samples contained TPH-d at higher concentrations than TPH-g TPH-d was detected at 890 and
1,900 ppm in B 11 at 20 feet and B 12 at 15 feet, respectively Analytical results of soil samples are
summarized in Table 2 The laboratory report and chain-of-custody are included in Appendix D
' 4 5 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE
Both TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in the grab ground water sample collected from boring B 13
at concentrations of 6,500 and 450,000 ppb, respectively However, no BTE&X were detected in the
grab samples, although the reporting limit was increased due to the high TPH concentration
Analytical results of the grab ground water sample is presented in Table 3 The laboratory report and
chain-of-custody are included in Appendix D
5.0. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
51 CONCLUSIONS
' The highest concentrations of dissolved hydrocarbons in ground water are along the northern portion
of the property The concentration of TPH-g is greatest in the vicinity of MW-2 while the
concentration of TPH-d is greatest near MW-3
Hydrocarbon-impacted soil appears to be limited to capillary fringe or"smear" zone, immediately
above the water table No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected at depths of 10 feet during this
' investigation, only very low concentrations of hydrocarbons were detected at depths of 15 feet The
depth to ground water at the site is currently 19 feet
