Excavation and <br /> backfill (with clean materials) continued through Manch 19, <br /> 1990. Aeration of contaminated soil is ongoing. All <br /> excavated soil was segregated, based on field screening, into <br /> "clean" and "dirty" stockpiles. <br /> 5.1 Excavation <br /> The excavation process started in the vicinity of <br /> Dispenser Island No. 1 (DI--1) . Plate 2 presents the Site <br /> Plan. The excavation associated with DI-1 was about 30 feet <br /> long by 21 feet wide and_ 21 feet deep (Photo 1) . The. <br /> excavation was completed on January 23, 1990. Seven soil <br /> samples were taken as specified by Mr. Harlan Knoll of San <br /> 5 <br /> Joaquin County Health, on January 24, 1990. The sample <br /> locations are illustrated on Plate 3.
