JOA QCI/ 1
SAN JOA UIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT NNIG plV S/NY
Q 0/V
CRIME PREVENTION THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN
468-4414
TO: Steven St. Sure DATE 2-1-91
San Joaquin County
Community Development Dept.
FROM: Peter Burnett
San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department
SUBJECT:
UP-91-14
This project alone will have a minimal/KKPiX impact on
current law enforcement procedures, continued growth of
this nature will necessitate the establishment of a funding
mechanism to maintain the current level of police service.
It is recommended that the following crime prevention con-
cepts be incorporated in the following design:
Construction should mee+the California Model Building Security
Ordinance as developed by the California Crime Prevention Prev-
ention Officers Association.
The address should be visible at all times, (color contrasting
to backgrounds, i.e. white on black) and illuminated during
hours of darkness.
Security shrubbery should be placed adjacent to fencing to
discourage climbing. Security shubbery should be used under
windows to discourage entry.
Window placement in the residence is very important. Occupants
need to be able to investigate suspicious activity without going
outside their homes. By their mere presence, windows can deter
criminal activity.
