Mr Ronald Rowe <br /> March 25, 1998 <br /> Page 2 <br /> • clays From approximately 243 to 370 feet bgs the interbedded sand layers decrease in grain <br /> size as well as thickness It is unknown if all sand layers beneath the water table are <br /> interconnected, producing one unconfined water-bearing-zone or if some of the thicker clay <br /> layers act as aquxtards <br /> It is documented that at least one well (MW-1) screens across the water table (70-90 feet bgs) <br /> and has a total depth of 90 5 feet bgs The unused well is thought to have been installed in the <br /> 1950s and could have been as deep as 150 feet bgs (verbal communication, Mr Terry <br /> Tardstt), though construction specifications are not available T&T Trucking had the pump <br /> pulled on January 14, 1998 so a transducer could be installed for this momtonng event The <br /> depth of the unused well was tagged at 97 feet bgs and based on the measurement of pump <br /> rods, the pump was set at approximately 90 feet bgs T&T Trucking installed the supply well <br /> in 1992 with a total well depth of 247 feet bgs and a screen interval of 167 to 247 feet bgs <br /> See Figure I for the well locations <br /> Scope of Work <br /> Field work included <br /> • Pulled the pump from the unused well on January 14, 1998 The pumped was <br /> pulled by a T&T Trucking subcontractor <br /> • The unused well was allowed to rest a few days prior to the start of the monitoring <br /> • On January 16, 1998 total well depths and depths to water were measured in <br /> MW 1 and the unused well One In-Situ, Inc pressure transducer (PXD-260) was <br /> installed into MW-1 and one in the unused well several feet below the water <br /> surface Each transducer was connected to a Hermit data logger Water levels in <br /> MW-1 and the unused well were recorded by hand measurements using an <br /> electronic water level probe prior to starting the data logger <br /> • Each transducer was secured to prevent slippage of the cable In addition, the data <br /> logger was protected from tampering and weather <br /> • The test was stopped on January 23, 1998 and the transducers and Hermit were <br /> removed from the site <br /> Results <br /> The data loggers were set to record the head of water (above the transducer pressure sensor) <br /> every 15 minutes for a total of approximately 7 days The transducer installed in MW-1 is <br /> rated for 15 psig and the transducer installed in the unused well is rated for 30 psig The <br /> transducers are gauged (for atmospheric pressure) to correctly indicate a water level change, <br /> regardless of what caused the change <br /> iUse or disclosure of data continued on this sheet is subject to the restriction specified at the beginning of this <br /> document <br /> MEL1WPl627 I ICORRESKUR-2.DOC <br />
