Mr Ronald Rowe
March 4, 1998
Page 4
U S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8020 and 8015 modified Samples
from the stockpiled soil will be collected and analyzed for the same constituents
HydroPunch® Groundwater Sampling One HydroPunch® groundwater sample will be
collected from each boring Groundwater samples will be analyzed for the presence of
TPH-GBTEX using U S EPA Method 8020 and 8015 modified and oxygenates using EPA
Method 8260 Soil and groundwater samples will be submitted to a State of California
Department of Toxic Substances Control certified laboratory for the analysis of hazardous
materials
Groundwater Monitoring Well Construction Well construction activities will be in
accordance to State of California Well Standards (Bulletin 74-81 and 74-90, June 1991) and
County mandated requirements If petroleum hydrocarbons are present in the HydroPunch®
groundwater sample at MW-3, using a field test kit, then the primary location will be
abandoned and well MW-3 will be constructed in the secondary location Based on the
location of MW-3, MW-4 will be constructed If MW-3 is constructed at its primary location,
then MW-4 will be installed at its primary location Otherwise, if MW-3 is constructed at its
secondary location, then MW-4 will constructed at its secondary location Table 1
summarizes the well constructions, locations and purpose of each proposed well, as well as
• the existing MW-1
The newly constructed wells and existing well will be professionally surveyed, both
horizontally and vertically, to an accuracy of 0 01 feet vertically The survey will also locate
several physical features of the site (i e buildings, storm drains, the "un-used" domestic well
and the domestic well) (see Figure 1)
Groundwater Well Development and Sampling All the newly constructed monitoring
wells will be developed to remove the silts and fines from the well After these particulates
are removed from the well, water may be pumped from the well using a submersible pump or
bailed until clear, sediment-free water is produced
All of the wells will be purged and sampled at a later date The analyses for the groundwater
samples will be the same as for the HydroPunch® groundwater samples
Project Schedule The field work will require approximately I week to complete This time
frame includes drilling three boreholes (possibly four, if petroleum hydrocarbons are
identified in HydroPunch& sample from the primary location of MW-3), well constructions,
Use or disclosure of data continued on this sheet is subject to the restriction specified at the beginning of this
document
• MELIGENI62711WRK?LN DOC
