Box 388
Stockton, California 95201-0388
Subject: Off-Site Domestic Well &
Closure Status
Moore Petroleum, Inc.
14800 West Frontage Road, Manteca, California
Apex Project No. ERA02.009
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
Apex Envirotech, Inc. (Apex), has been authorized by Moore Petroleum to respond to your letter
dated April 27, 1998 (Appendix A). Apex performed a Well Search at the DWR to acquire
construction specifications for this well. Apex contacted two local well drillers and they both had
no records for this well. Apex also attempted to access this well and measure the total depth and
pump depth. Apex was not able to access the casing of this well due to the wellhead being rusted
on the well casing.
Apex did collect another groundwater sample from the off-site domestic well on April 30, 1998.
The sample was analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons, as gasoline (TPHg) and diesel
(TPHd) by EPA Method 8015; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene total xylenes (BTEX) and MTBE
by EPA Method 8020; and 1,2 dichloroethane (DCE) by EPA Method 601. All constituents were
below laboratory detection limits (Appendix B).
Based on your letter, the property owner for the Trailer Park (off-site) wants their domestic well
replaced regardless of current well construction. Apex is in the process of securing Pre-Approval
from the Cleanup Fund for the costs to replace this well. Once the Fund Pre-Approves the cost
for this off-site well replacement, Apex will then drill a new domestic well and abandon the
existing well.
