IV
I„P 03 October 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 03-1080
60
alluvium, lake, playa and terrace deposits of Quaternary age (California Division of Mines and
Geology, 1977).Rocks composing the basement complex of the Province have not been completely
defined but are believed to be metamorphic and igneous in origin.
The Modesto, Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the
principal sources of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square mile San Joaquin Valley Ground
Water Basin (Basin 5-22).
2.2. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK PIPING REMOVAL
In January 2003, AGE was present during UST dispenser and piping upgrade activities and
excavation. The UST system upgrades were performed by Elite IV Contractors, Inc. of Stockton,
6P California.
Excavated soil removed during the upgrade was stockpiled on site for evaluation and transported to
Forward Landfill for disposal. Soil samples were collected from the floor of the piping excavation,
soil stockpiles, gravel pile and fuel dispenser excavation.Soil samples were transported under chain-
of-custody
hain-
ofcustody to Cal Tech Laboratories, a California DHS certified laboratory, for analysis of total
petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as asoline(TPH-g},total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as
diesel(TPH-d), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), and fuel oxygenated
compounds ( MTBE, DIPE, TAME, TBA, 1,2-DCA, and others). Sthft6l e44MO-4340e1.
Ethylbenzene,Xylenes,TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in the sample collected From dispenser D 1
161.* and MTBE and TBA were detected in the sample collected from soil stockpile A-411B. Analytical
results are summarized in Table 1;Figure 2 depicts the approximate location of the sample collection \14
points. I%\
160
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK `
fA a3
AGE proposes to collect soil and ground water samples to determine if petroleum hydrocarbon )k.lfr
and/or MTBE-impacted soil and/or ground water is present beneath the site. The preliminary site
16.0 assessment will include the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
IL.
• Soil and grab ground water sample collection and analysis;
• Report preparation
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
6.
L.
