L. N.41
Ln 03 October 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 03-1080
The preliminary site assessment tasks are discussed below.
w
3.1. PRE-FIELD WORK TASKS
LM
A health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
+... and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
Prior to mobilization, the area of excavation will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained
through Underground Service Alert.
LO
3.2. SOIL AND GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance three soil probe borings using direct push technology in the area of the
fuel dispenser Dl, to assess for petroleum hydrocarbon- and/or MTBE-impacted soil and ground
water beneath the site. Each boring will be advanced to a depth of 20 feet below surface grade
(bsg)or until "first" ground water is encountered; the proposed probe boring locations may be
modified due to field observations. As each boring is advanced, soil samples will be collected at 5-
foot intervals beginning at 5 feet bsg and extending to the total depth of the probe boring.
Iv The proposed probe boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2. Field procedures for advancement
of probe borings and collection of soil and grab ground water samples are presented in Sections 4.1
and 4.2.
16..
Selected soil and grab ground water samples from each probeboring will be submitted for laboratory
analysis. Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health
La Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for one or more the following constituents:
• TPH-g TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015M;
0 BTEX,MTBE,DIPE,ETBE,1A-,TAME,TBA,ethanol,and methanol by EPA Method
8260B. J o-1l,-03
L' • 1,2-DCA and EDB by EPA Method 8260B.
L,. Laboratory reports for soil and grab ground water analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality
assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be
' presented in a report with findings and recommendations.
4.0
Advanced GeoEnviroumental,Inc.
4
i.r
