IV. SAFETY PLAN
1. Attached hereto is Schedule #2 which is a list of all PPE, safety, first aid,
and fire equipment that shall be maintained at the Site.
2. The following guidelines shall be implemented and followed as part of this
Clean Closure Plan.
A. Personal Prolective Equipment "PPE"l.
1. An examination of the potential hazardous materials of the Site reveals that
the only likely dangers to workers would be from splashes of materials that may come into
contact with skin, eyes, or mouth. There appears to be no risk to the lungs due to
atmospheric contamination given the types of chemicals previously used on the Site, the age
of the Site, and the typical wind patterns of the area. The Site contains significant
amounts of wood, nails, and jagged metal edges causing a significant risk of puncture
wounds and cuts. Consequently, the Owner/Operator pursuant to its evaluation of the Site
and the potential hazards therein (as per 29 CFR 1910.120) has selected the following PPE
from which each individual worker shall select the appropriate equipment:
Goggles/face shield
Particle filter breathing mask
Tyrek suits
Rubber gloves
Steel-toed/steel-shank shoes
Hard hats
2. Should larger than residue amounts of any hazardous material be encountered
that pose a higher risk than anticipated, then the Supervisor shall insure that each worker
is aware of the condition so that he or she can evaluate that situation and select additional
PPE if necessary. Three (3) positive pressure breathing apparatus shall be available at the
site.
3. The gloves, coveralls, and particle filter masks shall only be used once and
then disposed of. The boots and face shields shall be used throughout and stored in the
change room lockers provided by the Owner/Operator after required decontamination.
4. All PPE shall be donned at the beginning of each work day and remain on
while work is being done.
7
