replaces the Site Characterization Work Plan Phase II dated 12 September 2008, which
Central Valley Water Board staff conditionally concurred with in a letter dated 17 October
2008. This revised work plan incorporates the conditional elements specified in Central
Valley Water Board staffa?Ts October concurrence letter, and addresses investigative items
specifically requested in the 28 May and 9 July 2008 letters.
The Revised Work Plan includes the following:
a-? Seven shallow monitoring wells distributed along the north and
south property boundaries.
a-? Ten shallow borings sampled for nitrogen about every five feet
to first groundwater, about 25 feet below ground surface (bgs)
a-? Five deep borings sampled for nitrogen about every 20 feet
extending to the depth of the on-site water supply well, about 195 feet bgs.
a-? A groundwater extraction well terminating in the shallow water
bearing zone.
a-? An extraction well pump test for aquifer characterization.
a-? All wells and borings will be sampled at about five foot
intervals throughout the boring length and analyzed for nitrate and ammonium.
a-? An isotope analysis will be conducted on shallow groundwater
obtained from off-site monitoring wells RMW-1SR, RMW-3S and the on-site extraction well,
and will be conducted on deeper groundwater obtained from offsite wells RMW-1D and RMW 3D.
11
and now the conditions:
"Central Valley Water Board staff conditionally concur with the Revised Work Plan, subject
to the following changes.
a-? Before disposing of aquifer test water, provide evidence that
the discharge location is acceptable to the receiver.
a-? Provide an updated figure of boring locations that illustrates a
deep boring near the western surface water sump (they can move boring locations around to
meet the request)
a-? Add an isotope analysis from groundwater obtained from the
deeper water-bearing zone on-site, and identify where it shall be obtained from.
Please submit the updated figure for Central Valley Water Board staff concurrence prior to
implementing field work, conduct the field work prior to 31 October 2009, and provide a
report of results by 26 February 2010. "
I suspect that the final letter will not be substantially different than this. Just
more verbage.
Thanks for your time,
If you have any questions, you may contact me at (916) 464-4680.
Here's the Geotracker link to the work plan
https://geotracker.waterboards.ca.gov/regulators/deliverable_documents/3431241691/Ripon%
20Work%20Plan0709%2Epdf
Amy Terrell
Regional Water Quality Control Board
Central Valley Region
11020 Sun Center Drive Suite 200
Rancho Cordova, CA 95670-6114
(916) 464-4680
aterrell@waterboards.ca.gov
2
