CE ,m� <br /> GENESIS ENGINEERING & REDEVELOPMENT <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This Phase II Site Characterization Work Plan ("Work Plan")was prepared by Genesis <br /> Engineering &Redevelopment, LLC ("GE&R") in response to the following Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board("RWQCB") letters: <br /> 1. Request for Well Destruction and Site Investigation, Ripon Farm Service, 938 <br /> Frontage Road, Ripon, San Joaquin County,May 28, 2008; <br /> 2. Request for Investigation,July 9 2008; and <br /> 3. Site Characterization Work Plan, October 17, 2008. <br /> In addition to these letters, a meeting was held on May 12, 2009 with the RWQCB and <br /> respective counsels and engineers for RF Land, Inc. and Ripon Farm Services, LLC that <br /> provided further direction on the scope of the Work Plan. <br /> The activities described in this Work Plan are being conducted as additional defense related <br /> activities in support of the matter of the RF Land Inc. v. City of Ripon, et al. (Case No. <br /> CV025997—Superior Court for San Joaquin County). <br /> The Field Activities associated with the Work Plan will be conducted at and in the vicinity of <br /> 938 Frontage Road, in Ripon, California("Site"). The Site location is shown on Figure 1 and <br /> the Site Vicinity Map is shown on Figure 2. <br /> 1.1 Site Background <br /> The Site was utilized for bulk batching and distribution of nitrogen-based fertilizers. The <br /> Site has a wash-rack containment area with two concrete holding ponds, storage buildings, <br /> and a bulk fertilizer preparation area. All fertilizer production activities at the Site ceased in <br /> November 2008; the Site is currently inactive. A layout of the Site is presented on Figure 2. <br /> 2 <br /> The Site is located in a mixed industrial/commercial area on the north es side of Ripon and <br /> is bounded by Highway 99 to the southwest; a truck stop with a truck wash to the north; and <br /> agricultural and commercial uses to the south and east,respectively. The Site and <br /> surrounding areas have been developed with predominantly industrial and agricultural uses <br /> from the 1950s to the present. <br /> 1.2 Local Geology <br /> The United States Geological Survey topographic map, 1991 Manteca,places the Site at <br /> about 58 feet above mean sea level.
