f Quik Stop Station No. 41) April 22,2003
Stockton,California Work Plan for Additional Groundwater Investigation
Task I Schedule a C-57 licensed drilling contractor to provide drilling and monitoring
well installation services; obtain required well permit from the SJCEHD;
prepare a Site Health and Safety Plan; and notify Underground Service Alert
(USA) to identify and locate underground utilities in the site area.
Task 2 Drill and install one monitoring well (MW-1) at the location shown on Figure 2.
Record sampling information, field screening and soil description data, and well
construction details on soil boring logs during drilling and well installation.
Describe soils using the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). Collect
r
soil samples at 5-foot intervals with a split spoon sampler. Field screen soil
samples for the presence of volatile hydrocarbons with a photo-ionization
detector (PID) or equivalent device. Stockpile drill cuttings at the site on and
covered with visqueen. Collect four representative samples of the drill cuttings
stockpile for characterization and disposal purposes.
Advance the monitoring well MW-1 boring to 75 feet bsg. Construct the
monitoring well utilizing 2-inch inside diameter (ID), flush-threaded, Schedule
40, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) casing and 2-inch ID, PVC, 0.020-inch slotted
well screen. Set the well screen over the interval 55 to 75 feet bsg. Place #3
filter pack sand in the annulus to approximately two feet above the screened
interval. Place a two to three-foot thick bentonite filter seal on top of the filter
pack. Place neat cement sanitary seal in the remaining annular space. A typical
monitoring well construction diagram is contained Appendix C.
Task 3 Develop and sample monitoring well MW-1 according to Horizon Field
Methods and Procedures. Survey the top-of-casing (TOC) elevation of the new
monitoring well to GeoTracker specifications.
Task 4 Submit selected soil samples from the soil boring, the four soil stockpile
samples and the groundwater sample, under COC documentation, to a state-
7076wp4-03.doc
Project No.7076.14 4 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
