1
REPORT
QUARTERLY GROUNDWATER MONITORING
SECOND QUARTER - APRIL 1997
' Canepa's Car Wash
248 E. Park Street
Stockton, California
' April 24, 1997
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Condor Earth Technologies, Inc , (Condor) conducted quarterly groundwater monitoring at the
' Canepa's Car Wash facility located at 248 E Park Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1, Appendix
A) on April 2 and 3, 1997 The groundwater monitoring was conducted at the request of Mr Remo
Canepa, facility owner, in response to direction from Mr Ronald Rowe of the San Joaquin County
' Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) The groundwater samples were
analyzed at a certified laboratory for total petroleum hydrocarbons, quantified as gasoline (TPH-G), for
benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylene (BTEX), and for methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) as
' requested by the PHS/EHD
This report includes a description of the field procedures and laboratory analyses conducted
during the April, 1997, quarterly monitoring A discussion of the current and historical groundwater
data is presented in Section 5 0 (Discussion of Results)
' 2 0 SUMMARY OF RESULTS
I The following summary describes the data collected during the April, 1997, quarterly
monitoring
•
Groundwater Analyses Gasoline was detected in the groundwater samples from MW-
1 at 0 92 mg/L, MW-2 at 20 mg/L, MW-3 at 0 89 mg/L, MW-5 at 20 mg/L, MW-6 at
I 8 mg/L, and MW-7 at 0 19 mg/L Gasoline was not detected at or above the
laboratory reported detection limits in the sample from MW-4 BTEX constituents
were detected in groundwater samples from MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5,
MW-6, and MW-7 ranging from 0 3 gg/L to 3,800 gg/L MTBE was detected in
groundwater samples from MW-1 through MW-7 using EPA Method 602 However,
I EPA Method 8260 was used to attempt confirmation of MTBE in the sample from
MW-2 but did not comfirm its presence This indicated that MTBE was not detected
in the sample from MW-2 at or above the laboratory reported detection limit It is
possible that MTBE confirmation attempts using EPA 8260 in future monitoring
events will indicate that MTBE is not present in samples from the other wells The
laboratory results are presented in Section 4 2, Table 1, and Figure 2, Appendix A
IGroundwater Elevation The depth to groundwater was approximately 30 feet below
the ground surface at the site The groundwater elevation ranged from 19 84 to 17 91
feet below sea level (bmsl) Groundwater elevation contours are shown in Figure 3,
Appendix A
L J CONDOR
