' Canepa's Car Wash <br /> 248 E Park Street, Stockton, California <br />' Interim Status Report on <br /> Phase H Investigation <br />' <br /> 1.0 Project ProJjIdenti anon <br /> .� <br />' This assessment has been conducted to define the lateral and vertical extent of contamination from <br /> underground fuel tanks at the Canepa's Car Wash, Park Street (Figure 1) <br /> I <br /> 2.0 Site History <br /> This site is at the corner of Park and Hunter Streets in downtown Stockton, California The site is <br /> approximately one-quarter acre in size, and has had known soil contamination since 1990 The <br /> original identified sources were underground fuel tanks when they were removed from this location <br /> The contamination is from diesel fuel and gasoline, including B, T, X, & E The tank locations are <br /> shown on Figure 2 <br /> Canepa's Car Wash sold fuel at this site for several years The property is owned by the Remo <br /> Canepa Family One 12,000 gallon unleaded gasoline tank, one 5,000 gallon leaded gasoline tank <br /> Iand one 5,000 gallon diesel fuel tank were removed in 1990 Evidence of leaks or overfilling of the <br /> tanks was apparent near all the tanks Soil samples were taken at the time of the tank removal at <br /> approximately 16 feet below the ground surface All samples had elevated levels of BTEX <br /> compounds, gasoline and diesel fuel No other work has been performed at the site The tank <br /> excavations have been back-filled and concreted to original grade. <br /> 3.0 .f o Scope Work <br /> IOn September 27 & 28, 1993, WITF, Inc , conducted three soil borings in the vicinity of the former <br /> underground fuel tanks (Figure 2) The first boring, B-1, was located at the former fuel island area <br /> The second boring, B-2, was located between the two former 5,000 gallon tanks, and the third <br /> boring, B-3, was Iocated in the center of the former 12,000 gallon tank excavation Boring B-1 was <br /> drilled to 56 feet, and laboratory samples were taken every five feet from 15 to 56 feet Borings B-2 <br /> & 3 were each drilled to 515 feet, and each was laboratory sampled every five feet from 15 to 5I 5 <br /> feet. The groundwater table was located between 50 to 52 feet in each of these borings All samples <br /> were selected for analysis by the on-site geologist, based on odor, discoloration and portable PID <br /> Ireadings as noted on the Bonng Logs (Table 1, Appendix A & C) <br />
