Canepa Is Car Wash <br /> 248 E Park Street, Stockton, Cal{forma January 14, 1994 <br /> Interum Status Report on Phase II Investigation Page: 2 <br /> I <br /> After receipt of analytical data from these borings, a second phase of drilling, including borings and <br /> monitoring wells, was planned and approved by an addendum letter with the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> I On November 10, 11 and 12, WHF, Inc , returned and drilled three (3) morutonng wells, MW-1, 2 <br /> and 3, and three (3) soil borings to the capillary fringe, B-4, 5 and 6 (Figure 2) <br />' The three monitoring wells were drilled to 65 feet below ground level, laboratory soil samples taken <br /> every five feet from 15 to 65 feet (Table 1, Appendix A), and well casing installed from p to 45 feet <br /> with well screen from 45 to 65 feet Well completion data is shown on the Bonng/Well Completion <br /> logs (Appendix C) These wells were surveyed (Appendix F) and water level readings and water <br /> samples taken (Appendix D) for laboratory analyses (Appendix B) The survey data and water level <br /> readings were used to calculate the groundwater gradient (Figure 4) <br /> IThe three additional borings were each drilled to 51.5 feet below ground level and laboratory samples <br /> taken every five feet from 15 to 515 feet (Table 1, Appendix A) These boring; were then backfilled <br /> with a bentonite/cement grout to ground level <br /> I 3.1 Drilling <br />' Permits were obtained before drilling began The borings were accomplished using a mobile <br /> mounted drilling ng employing the use of a 6 1/2" o.d hollow stem flight auger All drilling <br /> equipment was thoroughly steam-cleaned before drilling began, to prevent the introduction of <br /> contamination from off-site, and between borings to prevent cross-contamination <br /> The borings were logged under the direct supervision of a registered professional using the <br /> Unified Soil Classification System (Appendix E) The color, texture, moisture, plasticity, <br /> consistency of the earth materials, pertinent soil or bedrock characteristics, and any evidence of <br /> contamination were noted All water-bearing zones and the depths at which they were <br /> encountered were noted on these logs (Appendix C) <br /> All borings were drilled in such a manner as to prevent cross contamination between strata <br /> Exploratory soil borings were backfilled with a neat cement/bentorute grout mixture to the <br /> original grade. <br /> I The cuttings from the drilling operation and steam-cleaning were containerized on-site for <br /> proper disposition The groper method of disposal will be dependent upon the results of <br /> laboratory analyses This disposal will be the responsibility of the client unless other <br /> arrangements have been made <br />
