1.0 Introduction
The scope of services authorized in Cargill purchase order numbers 2206 and 2208 dated October
23, 1991 and October 31, 1991, respectively, included the performance of a Phase II Investigation
' on the Port of Stockton property located at Port Road 21 (see Figure 1). The purpose of this
investigation was to identify potential Underground Storage Tanks USTs and impacted soil and/or
' groundwater at the site, as Cargill plans on leasing the property.
2.0 Background
A Phase I Environmental Assessment was performed on the Port Road 21 site recently by IT
Corporation (IT). The assessment revealed three potential areas of environmental liability at the
site. These were (1) the potential impact of soil from neighboring properties, (2) the potential
' impact of groundwater from a recently removed UST on an adjacent property and (3) the
potential presence of USTs.
3.0 Site Inspection
3.1 Site Walk
The site covers an area of 4.21 acres. Currently the property is vacant and shows no signs of
former structures or tenants. The general topography of the site appears flat.
The property is bordered to the south and east by a Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe (A.T. and
rS.F.) Railway spur, to the north by PMag , and to the west by Port Road 21.
No visible soil staining was noticed during the site walk. In addition, no UST frll or vent lines
were observed.
1
evn 2WI/EESrt.IR:0817.W
