Canepa's Car Wash Page 2 of 2
248 E. Park Street and 6230 Pacific Ave. February 15, 2008
Stockton., CA
remediation systems is appropriate for your site, submit a feasibility study to the EHD for review to
evaluate the feasibility and cost effectiveness of the proposed remediation alternatives.
The lateral and vertical extent of the dissolved contaminant plume is still not defined. Additional
delineation is needed. No constituents of concern have been detected at monitoring well MW-12d since
j 3 r quarter 2003 . However, this well is screened in a clay layer upgradient from the source area which
may not provide reliable data to define the vertical extent. This monitoring well should have been
screened in a sand layer to delineate the plume in the potential migration pathway in the deeper zone .
The lateral extent of the plume is not delineated downgradient of MW-3 , screened 50 to 70 feet bsg,
which is impacted by significant concentration of MTBE. Additional site investigation is needed.
248 E. Park, Stockton.
At the meeting, the Additional Soil and Groundwater Investigation Report and Workplan Addendum
(WP) dated July 12, 2004 prepared by Condor was discussed. Condor had recommended in the WP
installation of five Continuous Multi-Chamber Tubing (CMT) monitoring wells to depths of
approximately 150 feet below surface grade (bsg) . The EHD can not approve of the CMT wells based
on problems experienced in San Joaquin County with such well designs. At the January 15 meeting it
was mutually agreed that a new work plan incorporating different well designs would be prepared. The
EHD has recently sent out a comment/directive letter on this site.
i
Please contact Frank Girardi at (209) 953 -7868 if you have any questions.
i
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Ook AAZO
Frank Girardi, Senior REHS Nuel Henderson, PG
Engineering Geologist
I
cc: RWQCB, James L.
