Scope of Work
7
Canepa's Car Wash — 6230 Pacific Street
June 21 , 2001
Page -2-
TASK 3 — Site Preparation
• This task includes a site visit to mark boring locations for underground and overhead
utility clearance and to review any utility drawings provided by the client.
TASK 4 — Cone Penetrometer Testing and Groundwater Sampling
• Condor will conduct CPT to assess the site lithology, soil contamination, and groundwater
contamination . In three locations, the CPT will penetrate to approximately 35 feet below
grade and take soil samples just above and just below the existing water elevation . In three
different locations, the CPT will penetrate to approximately 120 feet below grade to assess
the site lithology. Based on the lithology, the CPT will be used to take discrete
groundwater samples at an estimated three depths between 70 and 120 feet below grade.
TASK 5 — Monitoring Well Installation, Development, and Surveying
• Condor will install 6 new monitoring wells. Three monitoring wells will be installed to a
depth of approximately 100 feet. Three additional wells will be installed to a depth of 45
feet. The shallow wells will have slotted casings that extend above the existing
groundwater elevation . Limited soil sampling will occur as part of the well installation.
Groundwater monitoring will be conducted as part of quarterly monitoring.
TASK 6 — Report Preparation
• Condor wil I prepare a report on the additional investigation activities and results .
TASK 7 — Quarterly Monitoring of New Monitoring Wells for One Year
• Condor will conduct continued quarterly groundwater monitoring at the site. The quarterly
groundwater monitoring program consists of collecting groundwater elevation
measurements from the eight existing monitor wells and a groundwater sample from the
existing monitor wells and one of the nine site SVE wells. One year (four quarters) of
groundwater monitoring of the new wells are included in this scope of work. For each
monitoring event, groundwater samples collected from the monitor wells and SVE well
will be analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX), and MTBE
by EPA Method 8020 and total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-G) by
EPA Method 50301LUFT. For each monitoring event, Condor will prepare a quarterly
groundwater monitoring report for submittal to the CRWQCB and the SJC PHS/EHD.
Each report will include site background information, a description of the field work and
monitoring results, a discussion of well monitoring data to date, site maps showing
groundwater elevation and chemical iso-concentration contours, and laboratory reports that
include analytical methods, sample detection limits, and results of the analyses.
\\Pdc\projects\1707 Canepa-Pacific\Contracts\2001 Addendum\WorkScope6.21 .01 .doc
