Quarterly Monitoring Report, July 2000
Canepa's Car Wash (Pacific Avenue)
Page -3
The groundwater samples obtained from MW- 1 , MW-3, and MW-7 were collected by filling two 40-
milliliter glass vials with groundwater directly from the pump discharge tubing at a reduced rate. The
sample containers were labeled, placed in a cooler chilled with ice, and delivered, in accordance with
chain-of-custody procedures, to GeoAnalytical Laboratories, Inc. in Modesto, California, for analyses.
4.0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING RESULTS
4.1 GROUNDWATER ELEVATION CONTOURS
On July 10, 2000, the depth to groundwater was measured in each monitor well prior to the collection of
groundwater samples. The average depth to groundwater was approximately 32. 8 feet below the well
measuring points. The measuring points are slightly below the ground surface. The average depth to
groundwater increased approximately 1 foot since the previous monitoring event conducted in April
2000 . The groundwater elevations ranged from 19.32 to 20 .33 feet below mean sea level (bmsl). The
groundwater elevation contour map (Figure 2, Appendix A) indicates groundwater mounding in the
center of the site in the vicinity of MW- I and MW-2. See Table 1 (below) for groundwater elevation
data. A hydrograph of groundwater elevations is included as Figure 6, Appendix A. Note from the
hydrograph in Figure 6 and a comparison of the top of the well casing screen interval versus the depth to
water in Table l that all wells are drowned; i.e. the water table is 13 to 18 feet above the top of the
screen.
TABLE 1
GROUNDWATER ELEVATION DATA (JULY 109 2000)
MW-1 THROUGH MW-8
Well Well Casing Well Collar Depth to Groundwater
ID Screen Elevation Water Elevation
Interval (feet) (feet) (feet)
(feet - bgs)
MW-1 50 - 70 13 .45 32.87 - 19.42
MW-2 50 - 70 13 .27 32.59 - 19.32
MW-3 50 - 70 13 .50 33 . 19 - 19.69
MW-4 50 - 70 13 . 82 33 .34 - 19.52
MW-5 50 - 70 12.69 32.35 - 19 .66
MW4 45 - 65 11 .62 31 .95 -20 .33
MW-7 45 - 65 13 . 18 33 . 50 20.32
MW-8 45 - 65 13 .26 32.95 - 19.69
4.2 LABORATORY ANALYSES
The groundwater samples were analyzed by GeoAnalytical Laboratories, Inc. for total petroleum
hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-G) by Method 5030/LUFT.
