O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95207 October 8, 1993
Subject : Canepa's Car Wash, 6230 Pacific Ave. , Stockton
Dear n ane
This letter is an apology for not obtaining samples from the monitoring well that will be
identified as MW # 2, which is South of the fuel canopy at Canepa's Car Wash. This is my
fault as I told Lou Smith, our geologist, that it would not be necessary as we already had
samples from adjacent holes. This was incorrect and I apologize for my error.
Very strong odors were encountered at 55 feet, which is at the water table. When the
wireline was removed from the auger petroleum fumes were seen with water and gasoline
flowing off of the drill bit. Well development and water sampling have been scheduled for
next week, and you will be notified in advance of those activities. We believe that
additional wells will be indicated as being necessary further South of this well. In the
unlikely event that the sample comes back clean we will install a soil boring adjacent to the
existing well at WHF's expense and obtain the samples as required.
Again I apologize for this error and I hope it never happens again.
Sincerely,
Steve Furnas
WHFEnnironmental Consultants, Inc.
