i <br /> REPORT <br /> QUARTERLY GROUNDWATER MONITORING <br /> FIRST QUARTER-JANUARY, 1998 <br /> r <br /> Canepa's Car Wash <br /> 6230 Pacific Avenue <br /> Stockton, California <br /> I <br /> February 10, 1998 <br /> 10 INTRODUCTION <br /> Quarterly groundwater monitoring was conducted by Condor Earth Technologies, Inc. , (Condor) on <br /> January 20 and 21, 1998, at the Canepa's Car Wash facility located at 6230 Pacific Avenue in Stockton, <br /> California (Figure 1, Appendix A) This report was prepared by Condor at the request of the property <br /> Iowner, Mr Remo Canepa <br /> The work to be conducted during quarterly groundwater monitoring was described by Condor in <br /> Pi oposal for Site Evaluation and Groundwater Monitoring(April 8, 1996) The scope-of-work presented <br /> in the proposal was approved by Mr Ronald Rowe of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS/END) In addition to the previously approved scope-of-work, the <br /> PHS/UID required additional groundwater analysis to include gasoline oxygenates/additive- <br /> �I This report includes a site background and a description of the fieldwork and laboratory analyses <br /> II conducted during the January, 1998, quarterly monitoring <br /> 2 0 SITE BACKGROUND <br /> Canepa's Car Wash consists of an automated car washing facility, a fuel station, and a convenience store <br /> (Figure 2, Appendix A) rhe car wash and fuel station have been in operation for approximately 20 <br /> years <br /> In the Spring of 1993, three underground fuel tanks, fuel lines and dispensers were removed and replaced <br /> with a double walled system The tanks consisted of two 12,000-gallon gasoline tanks and one 5,000- <br /> gallon diesel tank Upon removal of the tanks and piping, it was discovered that the fuel lines had leaked <br /> and that the tanks had been overfilled Approximately 600 cubic yards of soil were removed from the <br /> fuel tank excavation area <br /> Beginning in March, 1993, one soil boring and a network of nine soil vapor extraction (SVE) wells were <br /> drilled and installed in the area of the fuel dispenser islands Between September, 1993, and March, <br /> 1994, eight monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-8) were installed In March, 1994, a soil vapor <br /> extraction system was in-tallcd and operated In the Fall of 1996, it was determined that the SVE system <br /> was inadequate and turned off A detailed Site History is included in Appendix B <br /> • <br /> �� CONDOR <br />
