4 <br /> S <br /> ILI <br /> WFC'Environmental Consultants, Inc. <br /> Sampling Protocol <br /> Drilling <br /> Permits will be obtained for the vapor wells, borings and monitoring <br /> well before the drilling begins. The soil borings vapor wells and <br /> monitoring wells will be made using a mobile drilling rig with a short <br /> mast to accomodate the low overhead clearance at the site.A hollow <br /> stem flight auger no less than 3 1/4-inch i.d. and S 7/8 o.d wil be used <br /> e4 to perform the borings and to install the wells. - <br /> All drilling equipment will be thoroughly steam-cleaned before drilling <br /> ,4 begins to prevent the introduction of contamination from off site and <br /> between borings to prevent cross contamination. <br /> The borings will be logged (Appendix A) under the direct supervision - <br /> of a registered geologist using the Unified Soil Classification System. a <br /> 4_1 "`t The color, texture, moisture, plasticity (if applicable), consistency of <br /> L the earth materials, pertinent soil or bedrock characteristics, and any. <br /> evidence of contamination was noted. All water-bearing zones and the <br /> depths at which they are encountered will be noted on the logs. <br /> L <br /> All borings will be drilled in such a manner as to prevent cross <br /> contamination between strata. Exploratory soil borings within the <br /> Lunsaturated zone will be backfilled with a 5% bentonite and cement <br /> grout with a bentonite plug at the base. <br /> The cuttings from the drilling operation will be stock piled on site until <br /> the levels of contamination are reported by the laboratory. The <br /> appropriate method of disposal is dependent upon results of laboratory <br /> analysis. .The disposal will be the responsibility of the client unless <br /> other arrangements have been made. <br /> Well Construction: <br /> WATER:, <br /> All materials used in well construction will be thoroughly cleaned prior <br /> to introduction into the boring. A two inch diameter well casing (PVC) <br /> 1 with end cap and factoryperforations for placement in the saturated <br /> zone (taking into account seasonal variation) will be placed in the <br /> i <br /> S <br />
