The SVE system utilizes a VR Systems Model V3 internal
combustion engine with Car Sound System 3-way catalytic converter for soil vapor
extraction and abatement. This letter presents SVE influent and effluent sampling results
for start-up of the SVE system.
Influent and effluent vapor samples were collected on January 17, 1996, and sent to
Sequoia Analytical, a California State-certified laboratory. The system was started-up
and sampled in the presence of Ms. Diane Busalacchi of the SJVUAPCD. The samples
were analyzed for total purgeable petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline
(TPPH-g) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX compounds) using
EPA Method 801518020: A summary of the start-up results is presented in Table 1.
Certified analytical reports and chain-of-custody documentation for influent and effluent
samples are included as Attachment A.
2025 Gateway Place, Suite 440, San Jose, California 95110 (408)441-7500 FAX (408)431-7539
