Soil
containing such elevated levels has now he
largely removed from the
area of the tanks by excavation. With the approval of the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board and the San Joaquin Local Health
District, excavated hydrocarbon--contaminated soil was removed to
,Sorth Cal Construction at 221 North Cardinal Street in Stockton,
California, during the week of April 4; 1988, for aeration.
Before moving the soil from the former UNOCAL station to the above-
referenced site, composite samples of this soil were analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbons and the volatile organic constituents
benzone, ethylbenzene, toluene, and total xylene isomers. The
1 results of these analyses are presented in Table 1.
eting
Approximately 350 cubic yards of soil placed
an 8n toa101inchethick
at North Cal Construction's yard and spread
layer.
