i <br /> OZONE MICROSPARGE SYSTEM <br /> PILOT TEST STATUS REPORT <br /> For <br /> Former Unocal Service Station No 2859 <br /> 1665 Pacific Avenue <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Report No 240042 06 <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> This report presents the evaluation of an ongoing interim remedial action performed by Gettler-Ryan Inc <br /> (GR) at the above referenced site The work was performed at the request of Union Oil Company of <br /> California (Unocal) to evaluate the effectiveness of an ozone microsparging (C-spargeTM) system as a <br /> remedial technology The scope of work performed included installing an ozone supply panel and <br /> . connecting it to the recently installed sparge wells, initiating system operation, collecting and analyzing <br /> groundwater samples from nearby monitoring wells during the system's operation, preparing a report that <br /> documents the work performed, evaluates remedial system performance, and provides recommendations <br /> regarding future work This work was requested by SJCPHS-EHD in a letter dated October 29, 2001 <br /> Work performed was proposed in GR's Work Plan For Additional Subsurface Assessment and Remedial <br /> Action (report #240072 06, dated December 11, 2001), and approved by SJCPHS-EHD in a letter dated <br /> December 27, 2001 <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The subject site is a vacant lot located on the southwest corner of Pacific Avenue and West Walnut Street <br /> in Stockton, California (Figure 1) Former facilities at the site consisted of a station building, one 550- <br /> gallon waste oil underground storage tank (UST), two dispenser islands, and two 10,000-gallon gasoline <br /> USTs Locations of pertinent site features are shown on Figure 2 <br /> PREVIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL WORK <br /> Investigation Summary <br /> In January 1988, Kleinfelder, Inc drilled soil borings KB-1 through KB-5 to evaluate subsurface <br /> conditions around the gasoline UST complex, product dispenser islands, and the waste oil UST The <br /> highest Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) concentrations were detected in borings KB-1 <br /> and KB-5 ranged from 7 8 to 370 parts per million (ppm) Benzene was detected in borings KB-5 and <br /> KB-3 at concentrations of 6 58 and 112 ppm, respectively <br /> • <br /> 240072 06 1 <br />
