26 July 2001
AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
23 REPORT PREPARATION
Following CPT boring advancement and analysis of grab ground water samples, a report of findings
will be prepared The report will include a description of work performed and the results of the soil
and groundwater sampling and analysis Conclusions and recommendations will also be included
in the reports, if applicable The report will be in a format acceptable to the PHS-EHD and the
RWQCB, and will be reviewed and signed by a California Registered Geologist
3.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist Procedures for CPT boring advancement, grab ground water sampling,
equipment decontamination and sample shipment are outlined below
3 1 CPT DRILLING AND GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION
Based on the sand content of soil samples collected at the site at depths down to 80 feet bsg and
petroleum-impacted ground water in monitoring well samples from as deep as 100 feet bsg
(MW-13), CPT soil borings will be advanced to target depths of approximately 150 feet bsg utilizing
a 25-ton truck-mounted CPT drill ng equipped with 2-Inch diameter hollow-stem rods The first soil
boring(sounding) will utilize a hydraulic ram to advance a cone penetrometer to the desired depth
Soil parameters such as cone bearing, sleeve friction, friction ration and pore water pressure will be
measured as the cone penetrometer is advanced
To eliminate cross-contamination from the known contaminated zones, additional grouped CPT
borings will be advanced adjacent the Initial CPT sounding for single target-depth ground water
sample collection, only one grab water sample will be collected from each grouped CPT boring
Based on findings of the Initial CPT sounding, discrete grab ground water samples will be collected
in selected saturated Intervals of porous and permeable material A HydroPunch sampling tool will
be pushed Into the specified zone, then withdrawn approximately three feet to expose an Inlet screen
The interior of the sampling tool should then fill with water and a 1-Inch outer diameter (O D )
stainless steel bailer will be lowered and utilized to extract a ground water sample Grab ground
water samples will be collected in intervals of porous and perineable material All nnseate generated
during drilling activities will be containerized In properly labeled DOT-approved 55-gallon drums,
and will be stored on-site in an area lacking public access
Following sample collection, the samples will be placed in laboratory-supplied containers and
transported under chain-of-custody to a DHS-certified laboratory
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
