HURRICANE OR TORNADO <br /> If a hurricane or tornado warning is issued for the area, the supervisor should: <br /> 1. Inform Plant Manager of the warning. <br /> 2. Upon Plant Manager's command, remove people to their tornado shelter. <br /> --Office building foundation. <br /> 3. Make a head count of all employees in the assigned assembly area. <br /> 4. Notify the Plant Manager of anyone missing. <br /> 5. Await instructions from the Plant Manager. <br /> Preparations must be made prior to a severe storm: <br /> • Cut off water <br /> • Empty pit (front and rear). Make sure the rear remains empty and front is <br /> as low as possible. <br /> • Empty storage tank and water tank. <br /> • Empty one work tank and keep the others as low as possible. <br /> • Prepare the gasoline powered pump with two hoses, one from the pit, and the <br /> other long enough to reach the top of storage tank and water tank. <br /> • Ensure there are working flashlights and batteries. <br /> • Continue treating until weather is too bad or a power failure. <br /> • Use gasoline powered pump to keep pit from overflowing. <br /> EARTHQUAKE <br /> During an earthquake employees should find shelter under a sturdy structure at least 15 feet <br /> away from windows. Stay away from free standing objects and do not attempt to evacuate. <br /> After the earthquake stay put until the supervisor tells you to return to work or evacuate until <br /> "all clear" is given. If the earthquake results in fire or injuries, follow the appropriate <br /> procedure for the specific problem. <br /> Supervisor's responsibilities: <br /> 1. Inspect site for any possible hazards such as fires, structural damage, etc. <br /> 2. Determine casualties, provide assistance, communicate with Plant manager, and <br /> notify emergency services as needed. <br /> 3. Notify Corporate Services in Grand Rapids. <br /> 4. Do not attempt evacuation of the area unless ordered by police or fire departments. <br /> 9 <br />
