INJURY OR ILLNESS <br /> Instructions for administering emergency first aid are addressed in Operations Manual index <br /> #7010. <br /> 1) Call 911 —Go to entrance and direct emergency response to victim <br /> Person in Charge: Assigned by area supervisor <br /> 2) Administer first aid to the victim <br /> Person in Charge: Trained supervisor <br /> 3) Amputated Part—Retrieve and send with victim <br /> Person in Charge: Area Supervisor <br /> 4) Call next of kin—Supervisor should make the call <br /> Person in Charge: Plant Manager <br /> 5) Supervisor should accompany victim to the hospital <br /> Person in Charge: Safety Coordinator or supervisor <br /> BLOODBOURNE PATHOGENS <br /> See Personnel Policy #1292 concerning the necessary precautions to prevent contact with <br /> bloodbourne pathogens. <br /> FIRE AND EXPLOSION <br /> In the event of a fire or explosion proper notifications of on and off site emergency response <br /> personnel should be made immediately along with steps for protection of employees. <br /> Steps for response: <br /> 1.) Identify fire. <br /> 2.) Evacuate building. <br /> 3.) Control fire with in-plant fire extinguishers until fire department arrives. <br /> 4.) Contact local authorities. <br /> 5.) Make employee head count. <br /> 6.) Dismiss unnecessary personnel. <br /> 7.) Assign an employee to meet and direct fire department. <br /> 8.) Perform salvage operation promptly after fire. <br /> 9.) Notify corporate services in Grand Rapids. <br /> 8 <br />
