n
A California Department of Transportation specified Class II road base was used to cap the pea
gravel within two inches of the paved surface. The BSK engineer observed the compacting
effort of the base material and tested the material for compaction once the final grade was
achieved. According to the BSK engineer the base material exceeded the 90 percent compaction
at each test point. The BSK geotechnical report is included as Appendix W.
Traffic rated vault boxes were set around the water meter and the property's mann shut-off valve
located at the south end of the excavation.
On June 21, 1993 a total of four inches of asphalt, laid in two lifts was placed over the
excavated area The excavated area was brought to grade with two inches of asphalt to match
the existing grade. An additional two inches of asphalt was overlaid over a 3,100 square foot
area surrounding the excavation and over the initial two inch lift covering the excavation. Two
traffic rated vault boxes were re-set around monitoring well MWl and MW2 so that the boxes
would match the new surface elevation
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Removal of the soil material at the property located at 4555 North Pershing Avenue in Stockton,
California was performed in conformance with the requirements of the San Joaquin County
Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division, and to the satisfaction of Mr Collins,
the County inspector
• o A total of 360 cubic yards of soil were removed from the excavation, transported
off-site and disposed of at the Forward Class III Landfill in Stockton, California
Laboratory analytical data indicated that the three eight-part composite samples
collected from the soil material stockpiled within the excavation contained no
detectable concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons, volatile organic
compounds, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene or xylenes. The data also indicated
that all detectable metals concentrations were below the California Code of
Regulations, Title 22, Total Threshold Limit Concentration values.
• The excavation was backfilled and resurfaced to restore the property to a useable
condition
x
arz2loaz 8
