CLEARWATER
G R O U P I N C
'
organic vapor using a calibrated photolonization detector The results of the
field testing will be noted with the lithologic descriptions on field exploratory
' soil boring log Soil samples selected for laboratory analysis will be covered
on both ends with teflon tape and plastic end caps The samples will then be
' labeled, documented on a chain-of-custody form and placed in a cooler for
transport to a state certified analytical laboratory.
' Drill soil cuttings will be stockpiled on plastic and covered to control runoff,
or placed in 55 gallon D Q.T. drums on site, sampled for landfill profiling
purposes and hauled by a licensed hazardous waste hauler to an appropriate
landfill All waste stored on site will be clearly labeled
Well Installation
Soil borings not to be converted into monitoring wells will be sealed to the
ground surface using either neat cement or a cement/bentonite grout mixture
in accordance with federal, state and local regulations
Soil borings that will be converted into monitoring wells will be a minimum
of eight inches in diameter for 2-inch diameter wells and a minimum of ten
inches in diameter for 4-inch diameter wells. Monitoring wells will be
constructed with schedule 40, threaded polyvinylchloride (PVC) casing and
have factory-slotted screen. The screened interval will be placed such that it
will extend approximately ten feet into the water bearing zone, and at least
I two feet above the expected water level. Screen slot size and sand pack will be
chosen based upon the expected aquifer materials A graded sand pack will be
placed in the annular space across the screened interval and extended
approximately one to three feet above the screen A minimum of a one foot
seal of bentorute will placed above the sand pack The bentonite seal will be
hydrated by either formation water or distilled water Neat cement or a
I cement/bentonite grout mixture seals the remaining annular space to the
surface If bentorute is used in the grout mixture, it will not exceed 5% by
weight A watertight locking cap and protective traffic-rated vault box will be
I installed on top of each well All well materials will be free from
contamination prior to installation. Complete well construction details will
be presented on the field exploratory soil boring log Fluids or lubrications
will not be used during the connection of individual lengths of screen and
solid casing, other than distilled water
I
CLE2ARWATER GROUP,INC December 16, 1994
I
