The test
results in each of these wells revealed no contamination except for 2.0 ppb Benzene in
monitoring well MW-2A. These test results differed from that anticipated, since
monitoring well MW-2, during the most recent quarterly monitoring (July 19, 1999;
September 8, 1989; and October 5, 1989), had shown much higher levels of hydrocarbon
contamination. It was therefore decided to re-sample the Dames&Moore-constructed
wells on May 9, 1990. In addition to sampling the recently constructed wells,it was
decided to sample each of the previously existing welds that had not gone dry. Dar?tes
&Moore found only monitoring well MW-2 had water. Measurements revealed that the
depth of water was approximate!y six inches and, once this was purged, it did not
recover sufficiently to sample.
 ' 16006-206-044
