J. Hunter & Associates dated May 12, 1992 and has the following comments.
Hydropunch sampling results are useful in determining placement of monitoring wells so that repeatable
sampling events can be accomplished. PHS/EHD recognizes that groundwater plume delineation has been
roughly defined and encourages further investigation be carried out to fully delineate the extent of
contamination at the site. Monitoring wells should be installed and sampled quarterly over the next
year(s) to provide gradient and constituent information.
PHS/EHD will accept an addendum to the existing "Problem Assessment Report" (PAR) dated February
1992 along with any health and safety plan addendum for proposed monitoring well installations. Please
include a timetable for installation and completion for any proposed work along with construction
specifications for the monitoring wells.
Utilizing the preliminary results achieved by hydropunch coIIection, PHS/EHD will review and consider
proposals and costs for remediation alternatives for the contamination currently still in place on site.
PIease refer to Tri-Regional Guidelines, Appendix A under "PAR" for proposals for remediation and
include these alternatives in your addendum submittal by August 20, 1992.
If you have any questions, please contact Michael Infurna, Senior REHS, of my staff at (209) 468-3454.
Jogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
Health It
r
o 1a, RE , Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
LAC/MI:lb
c: Wm.
