781.0 Thornton Road,Stockton,California
1.0 OBJECTIVE
Augeas Corporation was retained by Union Safe Deposit Bank to assess
specific environmental concerns related to potential leakage or spillage of fuel
from former underground storage tanks. These underground tanks (USTs)
were used to store petroleum hydrocarbon fuels. The objective of this Prelimi-
nary Investigation is to identify subsurface soil conditions and to verify the
extent of any fuel contaminated soil encountered at the site.
Due to the fact that detailed records related to UST use and removal could not
be located, several soil borings were installed in order to obtain soil samples
from below ground surface. These borings were located near the former UST
area, based upon available site maps and aerial photographs. Two of the soil
borings encountered soil materials resembling backfill used in typical tank
installations. Since the limited soil contamination identified during-this inves-
tigation is restricted to a relatively small area, no further action is proposed at
this site.
f
Iof9
Project Number.
