Union Safe Deposit Workplan
4.0 TECHNICAL APPROACH
Based upon review of previous investigations conducted in the vicinity of the
subject property and published data regarding local geographic and hydrologic
conditions, Augeas Corporation developed the following technical approach
for the proposed investigation.
In order to accomplish the goals established for the proposed investigation, the
project would be separated into three distinct work items as follows:
I, Field Investigation to advance exploratory soil borings for the
purpose of logging subsurface conditions and obtaining sub-
surface soil samples for chemical analysis. Four soil borings
will be completed and a Hydropunch groundwater sample
taken from one of the borings.
Laboratory analysis of subsoil and groundwater samples
obtained from the field investigation to evaluate the presence
and concentration of petroleum constituents contamination.
III. Report preparation summarizing the results of the chemical
analysis and including Augeas' conclusions and recommen-
dations regarding the site.
TASK I FIELD TESTING
Augeas proposes to install a of four exploratory soil borings at the locations
shown on Augeas' Drilling Permit Application. The purpose of these soil
borings is to provide additional data regarding the presence of hydrocarbons in
C subsoils. Field screening of the subsoils samples will help to describe hydro-
carbons persistence in a vertical relationship to groundwater.
One of the four exploratory soil borings will be Hydropunched and a ground-
water sample gathered. The sample will be utilized to evaluate the presence of
hydrocarbons in groundwater, and provide data for assessing groundwater
L depth and quality.
Based upon site investigations conducted for nearby properties,we anticipate
groundwater occurs beneath the subject property at depths ranging from 30 to
50 feet below the existing grade.
Project Number: UNS622 Page 4 of 8
