i <br /> 23 April 2001 <br /> • AGE-NC Project No 96-0263 <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br /> 2 2 GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION <br /> Following advancement of an initial boring to collect lithologic data,the CPT drill ng equipped with <br /> a HydroPunch ground water sampling tool was utilized to collect grab ground water samples from <br /> specified depths of a twin soil boring The HydroPunch sample tool was pushed into the specified <br /> zone, then withdrawn approximately four feet to expose an inlet screen The interior of the sampling <br /> I tool filled with water and a 0 5-inch outer diameter (O D ) stainless steel bailer was lowered and <br /> utilized to extract a ground water sample Ground water samples were collected from selected depth <br /> intervals (zone) based on previously acquired CPT-lithology data interpreted to indicate favorable <br />' conditions for sampling ground water All rinseate generated during drilling activities was <br /> containerized in properly labeled DOT-approved 55-gallon drums, and was stored on-site The <br /> twinned soil borings were backfilled over their entire depth with a portland cement grout mix <br />' <br /> Followmg sample collection, the samples were placed in laboratory-supplied containers and <br /> transported under chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical Inc (MAI), a California Department <br />' of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory Samples were analyzed for <br />' . • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 503018015-modified, <br /> • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary-butyl ether <br />' (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020, <br /> • Fuel oxygenates - MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPS), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), <br />' tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8260M, and <br /> • Ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA <br />' Method 8260M <br />' 23 SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION <br />' The CPT drill rig, equipped with 2-inch diameter hollow-stern rods fitted with 1 25-inch diameter <br /> piston soil sampling assembly loaded with a pre-cleaned brass sleeve, was used to collect soil <br /> samples from 35 feet and 44 feet bsg in the twin of boring CPT-2 and from 30 feet bsg in the twin <br />' of boring CPT-3 <br />' Upon soil sample retrieval, the brass sleeve was removed from the sampler The ends of the brass <br /> sleeve were immediately covered with Teflon sheets, sealed with plastic end caps, secured with tape <br /> . and immediately placed in a chilled container for transportation to a DHS-certified laboratory Each <br />' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,lac <br />
