28 July 1999 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 96-0263 <br /> Page 4 of 9 <br /> 3 1 PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES <br /> A health and safety plan will be updated in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health <br /> Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety <br /> and Health Administration, U S Coast Guard and U S Environmental Protection Agency, 1985) <br /> Prior to mobilization, the area of excavation will be clearly marked and an utility clearance obtained <br /> through Underground Service Alert <br /> 32 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br /> 3 2 1 Soil Sampling Collection and Analysis <br /> A minimum of five soil bonngs will be advanced using conventional auger drilling as pilot borings <br /> for collection of soil samples and the installation of ground water monitoring wells The purpose of <br /> the monitoring wells are to <br /> • Assess the lateral petroleum hydrocarbon impacts to soil and ground water, then <br /> • Assess the flow direction of impacted water north from the former UST area <br /> As shown on Figure 2 ground water monitoring wells are located within approximately 10 feet of <br /> the former UST/dispenser area and at locations surrounding the former UST area Upon installation, <br /> each monitoring well will be given a designation <br /> Soil samples will be collected from a boring near the former dispenser area continuously, while soil <br /> samples will be collected from the four other monitoring well pilot boring at five-foot intervals from <br /> five-feet bsg to the total depth of the boring Field procedures for advancement of soil borings and <br /> collection of soil samples are presented in Section 4 1 1 <br /> A total of up to 18 soil samples, a minimum of three samples from each soil boring, will be <br /> submitted for laboratory analysis Selected soil samples will be analyzed by Department of Health <br /> Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the analytes noted in section 4 1 1 <br /> Laboratory reports for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control <br /> (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with <br /> findings and recommendations <br /> Advanced GeoEn%ironmental,Inc <br />
